This is my new bike. It is a used bike from a place where you can rent bikes for a day. They got new bikes so this is one of their old ones, it says Copenhagen in Danish on the side. I need to buy a basket to go on the front of my bike since I had some trouble with my grocery bags hanging on the handle bars earlier today. After class I decided to go exploring on my bike. I chose to go to the beach so I set off in a general direction with my handy dandy bike path map. I think I did quite well for my first long ride in Denmark. There were no collisions, getting yelled at, or falling over in the strong gusts of wind. I did turn on the wrong streets a few times because I didn't want to continuously stop to look at my map, this requires hand signals and getting out of the bike lane and onto the sidewalk. I eventually made it to where I had planned to go. It is a beach on the island Amager, I live on the island Zealand and Copenhagen spans these two islands, where you can see the bridge to Sweden and the large wind turbines off the coast of Copenhagen. The sand was a mixture of stones, shells, and sand so it was a little rougher than most beaches in California. I did put my toes in the water which was rather cold for being the end of summer. I am not sure which ocean you would call it, it is the the area that connects the North Sea with the Baltic Sea.I did made it home before dark (I am not quite sure how to turn the lights on on my bike) and without getting lost or consulting a map.
Good job getting a cool bike with lights that don't turn on ;) hehe.. that's awesome you rode to the beach! I would totally go exploring by myself too.. that's so fun. I love your picture of the sun rays, and the one with the cement structure.. it looks like a military bunker or something. Reminds me of the Presidio!
