V M Mountain

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. It is due to a combination of lots of studio work and my computer being fixed.
My Urban Journal class went on a field study to the VM Mountain which consists of three buildings; a V, a M, and a Mountain. The V and M were design by PLOT and then the firm split into to seperate firms, one which designed the Mountain.

Tivoli Gardens

one ticket into Tivoli 94KR ($19)
one ride on the Big Swing 60KR ($12)
one amazing candy apple 25KR ($5)
one cup of coffee (to warm up) 35KR ($7)
one ride on the roller coaster 60KR ($12)

first trip to Tivoli . . . . expensive

Tivoli is one of the most known tourist attractions in Copenhagen. It is second oldest amusement park in the world (the oldest one is also in Denmark). We didn't make it while the park was still open during August but it opens back up for fall break and Christmas. We went while it was open for fall break so everything was decorated for Halloween even though they don't really celebrate Halloween outside of North America. It was an great evening even if we kinda blew our budget for the week . . .

Utrech

Sorry about the lack of picture on the last day of our tour. I was all 'architectured' out and ready to be home. This day was spent on the Utrech University in the city of Utrech. This is one of the many buildings on the campus.

This is the Schröder House which is an amazing building for its time. We couldn't take picture inside but almost all walls are movable so that one can change the building to meet your day-to-day needs.

Amsterdam

We explored Amsterdam was on bike, of course. We got our rental bikes and set off to see some architecture in the city. Then we had some time on our own and then went to a concert as a group.

Essen to Rotterdam

Day Three started with the Zollverein School of Management and Design by SANAA.

Next was the Ruhr Museum that is an old coal factory that has been renovated into museums

Then we went to the Red Dot museum in the same complex of reclaimed industrial building. It is a museum that displays items that have won the Red Dot award. They display anything from sofas, to doorknobs, to vacuum cleaners.

I had Dr. Pepper in the Netherlands and it was amazing!
